I've got just over 2 hours until I know exactly how much the Corvair is going to sell for.

I think I picked a pretty good time to have it go off, 8pm on a Sunday night when there's no football or anything else to distract my bidders. eBay always feels like a crap shoot when you're selling though, since there's nobody standing in front of you with cash. The high bidder could just stiff you, or they show up and decide not to buy it for whatever reason.

What I'm not worried about is my description of the car. I described the HELL out of this car. I begged people to ask me questions, and I've gotten three throughout the whole week, all from the same guy (who hasn't bid yet, which is good). If people had concerns, I'd hope they would ask me before bidding, but hey, people are weird.

Of course, how much it sells for will also determine what I buy with my ill-gotten gains. Right now, this is the leader in the clubhouse:

'71 Jaguar XJ6 SWB. It's got the 4.2 liter six and is basically rust free. I'd be interested in swapping in a 5 speed (a common swap on the 4.2, but usually in an E-Type), gutting the interior, and kinda rat-rodding it. Straight dual exhaust with glass packs, steel wheels with big fat high profile tires...it would be like my XJ-12s evil uncle.

I've also looked at Triumph TR6s (too expensive for my price range), Mustangs (Foxes, in my range), Camaros, MR2s...basically anything around $2000 is what I'm looking at. The Jag is nice because it's solid, all there, and I think it can be had for $1000. Which would leave money for the swap.

Anyway, the Corvair goes off at 8pm tonight, and you can watch along with me if you're so inclined. Wish me luck, Oppo!

Do the Jag, but please no rat rod.. kinda played out I think. But you are free to ignore my comment of course.

The rest sounds like a great idea. Especially the stripped interiour.

I suppose rat rod isn't really the right word for it. More like vintage race car, I think...15" wheels and tires with big sidewalls, wood steering wheel, maybe a second seat in it, roll bar. I'm not super hung up on the paint being perfect, and it'll definitely stay British racing green. It'll be an absurd but awesome track day car.
